Service Description

Join us for an inspiring one-day workshop dedicated to capturing the likeness and character of your pet or favourite animal in paint. Using acrylics, traditional or water-soluble oils, you'll learn techniques that can be transferred to many other subjects and approaches. You will learn: *How to achieve a likeness of your pet using acrylic or oil painting *Techniques for creating the texture of fur, using impasto and glazing *How to paint soft and brittle fur, a glistening nose, and realistic eyes *How to achieve the effects of light and shadow *How to mix paints and create tonal balance *The basics of underpainting and use of painting mediums =Skills you can apply to other subjects! You'll also be pointed to other artists' work as inspiration throughout the day. This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with painting experience. Our small group size guarantees plenty of one-to-one feedback, tailored to your individual level of skill and experience. Materials - please bring: * Acrylic paints or Oils (traditional or water-soluble) * Canvas or canvas paper, size A4 or A3 * A selection of brushes you already have. * A portrait photograph of your pet or animal, either printed or on your phone. We will break for 45 minutes to 1 hour for lunch. We are located five minutes walk from Crystal Palace Triangle, a foodie basin with a plethora of cafes and restaurants to choose from. Or, you can bring your lunch and relax at our kitchen table. Coffee, tea and biscuits will be provided throughout the day.   5 students maximum! Having a maximum of 5 students per workshop guarantees you will receive personalised tuition and feedback tailored to your needs and level. No generic advice and no getting lost in a crowded class. We are all about creating a supportive, relaxed atmosphere.  Regardless of the particular theme, all our Saturday workshops will help you: - build your technical confidence - move beyond any creative or technical rut you may have found yourself in - sharpen your understanding of your strengths and your way of working - provide a closer look at composition and colour, and how to arrive at a compelling painting - answer your particular questions regarding paints, mediums, and/or professional development.
