Service Description

This is an exciting opportunity to learn and apply colour theory in your paintings. Over the course of the day, you'll build confidence in the use of colour, inspired by a range of artists and their techniques, and gain a working knowledge of how colour operates within a composition. You'll enrich and broaden your painting skills using pure and mixed colours to achieve form, depth and compositional variety, while gaining skills and knowledge in contrasting colour, triad colour schemes and split complementaries. Some of what we'll cover: * Basic colour theory, and using cool and warm contrasts within a composition * Exploring the tactile, fluid quality of paint to achieve vibrant colour, colour tints and texture * Mixing neutral tones with colour to achieve a range of greys for shadows and mid-tones * Colour impasto techniques * Using strong light and shadow relationships to apply contrasting/complementary colours for 3D effects * Planning a composition through colour contrasts, colour opposites and analogous colour schemes Artists referred to include: Vincent Van Gogh, Sonia Delaunay, Henri Matisse, Chris Ofili, Bridget Riley, Patrick Heron and others. Materials. Please bring: 1. Oil paints (traditional or water-mixable) or Acrylics 2. Canvas or canvas paper, or mixed-media all-purpose paper 3.
